From Digital Dreams to Dragon Dice Vaults: The Sigilwood Craftworks Story

Sigilwood Craftworks began with a spark of curiosity and a lifelong fascination with the world of making. My journey started in an unexpected place: surrounded by other creatives at the university where I worked. Immersed in that environment, I was introduced to the world of 3D printing. That experience ignited a passion for bringing digital designs into the physical world, and from there, my exploration took off!

My maker journey has twisted and turned through a variety of mediums, including digital design, casting, leatherworking, blacksmithing, and CNC. Each new skill expanded my creative toolbox and ultimately led me to the intricate beauty of woodworking.

The creation of Sigilwood Craftworks represents the culmination of these diverse skills and passions. Each piece begins with an idea, often inspired by the mythical allure of dragons and the rich aesthetics of tabletop gaming. I then translate that idea into a digital design, carefully considering every detail.

The real magic happens in the transformation of raw hardwood. I use a combination of techniques, including precision carving, to shape the wood and bring the designs to life. I select hardwoods like cherry for their natural beauty and durability. The pieces are then finished by hand, enhancing the wood's unique grain and ensuring a smooth, tactile feel. Details like hidden hinges and secure magnetic closures are integrated to add functionality and a touch of seamless elegance.
